Kenya is strategically located as a gateway to East and Central African region. Mombasa port is also the sea border to the Indian ocean that suites Kenya as a production and distribution base to service Africa and the world.
Sea Imports (Local & Transit)
Most of imports into Kenya and its landlocked neighbors like Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi and DRC Congo are shipped by sea. Afribase Logistics handles all types of imports including transit cargo to the neighboring countries. We also handle TBLs that require multi-modal transport arrangement to various foreign destinations.
Sea Exports
We process export consignments to overseas destina- tions through the port of Mombasa. These are mainly agricultural products such as Tea, Coffee, Fruits & Vegetables, Machinery and equipment as well as cold chain logistics for perishable goods that require refrigeration.
Transshipment Cargo
We handle both direct and indirect transshipment cargo at the port of Mombasa. Some of this is Cargo that has temporarily been discharged at the port having not yet reached its final port of destination (POD) and is thus to be transshipped into another vessel; others are due to mechanical breakdown of initial vessel or when cargo has been ordered to be returned to shipper for various reasons.
Consolidated cargo
Afribase Logistics handles consolidated cargo both imports and exports. If your cargo is not
large enough to fill a whole container it can be consolidated with other LCL shipments to
make up a full container of either 20ft or 40ft. Upon arrival at the sea port of Mombasa, it is
cleared on FCL/LCL basis and delivered to a container freight station (CFS). Here the container
is stripped and cargo palletized and stored in warehouses from where Afribase Logistics
clears the cargo and delivers to the consignee.
